Only one more day before the big GIVEAWAY BASH!!! New Years is so close!! Now the best for last in our week long author Interviews, I have the pleasure of interviewing Monique O'Conner James!! Let me just say how much I love her book covers!! Gorgeous!!
Thank you for doing this interview!! Tell us a little about yourself Monique!
I am mom to two beautiful children and I married my high school sweetheart. I’ve written all my life, but after my mom died in 1998 I couldn’t write. I didn’t write again until November of 2008 when I sat down and pecked out 7 complete manuscripts! I love writing it has been my saving grace.
For those who have not had the pleasure of reading your book Jamais Vu, can you tell us a little about it?
Darby Lambert has an accident when she is playing with a gun. The accident spurs a near-death experience that leaves her with the ability to change her dreams. Her journey is about finding out what ramifications changing the outcome of her dreams has and what exactly happened when she was shot.
I always believe that the title along with the cover art of a novel are what first attracts the reader. Your cover art is beautiful! I have to ask, how did you decide the title?! Did you know from the beginning you wanted to name it that or did it come later?
No way! I didn’t know from the beginning, but as I wrote the story Darby had several instances of Jamais Vu and Déjà vu and I thought the name was interesting enough that people would want to know where the title came from and what it meant.
Do you listen to music while writing? If so, what types?
I listen to alternative rock and country mostly. It’s so weird because some days I have to have music while I write and other days I have to have complete silence! I’m weird like that! Sometimes I write on the computer and sometimes I write in long hand and then type it up later!
Jamais Vu has a major twist!!! I was so relieved when I came to the end and all was revealed!! I know Book 2, Deja Vu will be the continuation. Can you tell us what to expect in Deja Vu?
In Déjà vu Darby finds out more about her past and who she really is. You are going to be blown away! Expect the unexpected but I promise by the end you will be relieved at the outcome.
What are 3 words you would use to describe Darby, Kasey, Matt?
Searching, Growing & Lost.
Any new projects up on the horizon??
After Déjà vu comes out in Early 2012, I have a contract for a novel called Becoming Jolie for Summer 2012. I’m also working on something new and the follow up to my first novel, The Keepers which is called The Watchers. I still have 4-5 manuscripts I haven’t touched
yet to edit and get out there too, so there will be lots more to come from me!
Who has been your best or favorite character to write and why?
That’s a hard one. I loved writing about Darby. I can relate to her and the way she struggles with the way she looks and who she really is. I think we all grow and learn everyday and Darby is a reflection of that growth in many ways.
A la twitter style.. using only 140 characters, describe Jamais Vu!!
Darby’s dreams can change reality. Join her on the journey to claim her life and love.
Who is your favorite Paranormal Romance Author? Any specific books or series?
Well this is going way back, but I’ve always loved Anne Rice. Of course, she’s from Louisiana like me and I can just get lost in her novels. In fact, I just downloaded The Vampire Chronicles again so I can read them. I haven’t read them since I was about 14.
What is you favorite drink or food to have at a Party?!?!
Hmmm I’m not much on sweets but I love chips and dip. That’s my weakness, but you know what I said I’m not much on sweets, however, I love chocolate!
I just LOVE Chocolate, especially if I'm dipping fruit into it!! YUUMM!! Thank you so much Monique!! Like I said I will be keeping my eyes open for Deja Vu in 2012!!

ReplyDeleteAmazing interview and giveaway guys. Goodness, your book covers are so incredible! Definitely will stick with me. Just beautiful. I love what you said about writing with music. I am the same way when writing reviews and stuff. Some days I need music, then when I need to truly concentrate, I need silence or I get irritated. It is so awkward. I am definitely dying to know what this big twist is LOL! I am so keeping my eyes peeled for more. I would love either book, they both sound like something I need to sink my teeth into. Great giveaway and interview again guys, thank you so much.
ReplyDeletethank you so much Monique!!
