Countdown to New Years Bash with R.K. Ryals ~Character Interview & Giveaway~

With each day that passes we are leaving behind 2011, and coming closer to 2012. Now with only less than 3 days away from New Years!! Today I had the pleasure of interviewing Dayton Blaine, the heroine in author R.K. Ryals Redemption series!

Thank you for answering our questions Dayton!! At the beginning, when we are first introduced to you. You and your sister Amber have lost your parents and are sent to live with your Aunt. What was going through you head at the time??

It's amazing how each person copes with grief. Losing my parents was like losing a part of my soul, causing a strange feeling that ate incessantly away at my gut. I had no idea how to process it. The only thing I wanted to do was scream, and when that wasn't an option, I retreated. I withdrew into myself, just letting the world pass me by, hoping that when I woke up to reality, their death would have merely been a bad dream. And then when I saw my aunt, when I saw where they had taken us . . . I was intimidated and afraid.

What do you consider your strengths and weaknesses?

My strength is my ability to persevere. My weakness is most definitely my stubborn streak. My stubbornness has a tendency to blind me to what I know is true. I also tend to put my foot in my mouth. And I have a bad cussing habit.

Describe yourself in 3 words??

Stubborn, introspective, rebellious.

If you were granted three wishes, what would they be and why??

I'd want my parents back. I'd wish for a better relationship with my sister as we drifted apart after my parents' death. And, if I was being honest with myself, I'd wish to be taller, more noticeable.

Do you think you could ever love Conor more than a friend??

There is something about Conor that makes the heart skip a beat. He's incredibly good-looking and loyal to a fault. He is also chivalrous and charming. But, loving Conor as more than a friend could be complicated. He's known me since I was in diapers, and the bond we share is hard to define. Do I love him like a brother? Or could I love him more than that?

With everything that has been going on what's the most important thing in your life?

My friends. Losing my parents made me realize that family comes in strange places. For me, Conor and Monroe especially, became a unit of support I know I couldn't live without.

When you first met Marcas, what was your first impression?? Have those feelings changed at all??

First impression: Fear, Terror, Confusion. I knew without a doubt he was going to kill me! Over time, this quickly changed to irritation. He really touches nerves that no one else seems to touch. And the fact that he riles me so much, bothers me at times. Why do I let him get to me?

What is your favorite food??

dumdum lollipops. They aren't just candy. They are a necessity.

Describe your ideal mate?

I think the perfect man is someone who would sacrifice anything to make the person he loves happy.

What is one thing that no one knows about you??

I am obsessed with classic literature and satin sheets. The first makes me sound like a geek. The second makes me sound decadent.

What is your favorite party food or drink??

At the Abbey, partying is pretty much out of the question. The one time I snuck out though, I got pretty messed up on alcohol. It has been a wall between my aunt and I ever since.
I won't lie though. When it comes to food and drink, I will eat and drink anything with sugar in it. I am obsessed with sweets.

I love DumDums!! One just isn't enough!!! Again thanks a lot Dayton for stopping by!! And who is the person who created Dayton and this awesome new series....
R.K. Ryals:
Two words best desrcibe me: quietly eccentric. ;)

I write YA paranormal fiction and am also currently considering a Fantasy series I've had in mind for years. Redemption is my first book.

I am the mother of three beautiful little girls ranging from 1 to 8 years of age. Aside from that, I am your quintessential Southern woman. Kind of hard not to be when I have been raised in the deep South. Mississippi is my home.
