Now, as the final battle draws closer and his rage at being betrayed is overshadowed by an undeniable passion for the mother of his child, Thanatos has a life-shattering realization: To save the world, he must sacrifice the only thing he's ever wanted-a family.

My Review:
1st line in book--> Regan Matthews was going to die.

I have to say that I wasn't really excited about starting Lethal Rider, well I was but not because of our main Hero Thanatos. It was because It brought us closer to Reseph's book and I hoped to see past characters. I LOVED Eternal Rider! Ares's story blew my away, I loved every minute of it. I couldn't wait for Limos's book! I mean she is Satan's bride, the only Horsewoman, so girl power and all that jazz!!! When I finished Immortal Rider I was a little let down. It was good but I wasn't in love with it like Eternal Rider. So I didn't have that high expectations for Than's book because: One- Throughout the previous books, the bits that Than appeared didn't really interest me. He was always closed off, serious.. not much to expect. Two- At the end of Immortal Rider, his storyline seemed kinda predictable.

**Review** C791 By Eve Langlais

C791 (Cyborgs: More than Machines #1)
Eve Langlais
Rating
Released: Feb. 2012

Blurb:
Machines aren’t supposed to feel, but this cyborg can’t help falling in love.

Assigned as a specimen collector for a captured cyborg, Chloe is intrigued by the machine disguised as a man. Kidnapped during his daring escape, he shows her that despite the chip in his brain, his humanity is not completely lost.

Formerly known as unit X109GI, Joe is on a quest to discover his origin. While he doesn’t find the answers he’s looking for, he does discover that affection and lust aren’t just for humans. But when it comes to a battle between logic and love, which side will the cybernetic organism—once a man—choose?

Evaluating his feelings will have to wait though because the military isn’t done with Joe. But their threats against him pale in comparison before the shocking discovery of project C791, the revelation of which stuns the rebel cyborgs—and ignites a fury for vengeance.

Warning: This story contains violence towards the heroine that might offend some readers, but rest assured the hero kicks the offending butts. This is a spicy romance featuring an ultra hot, cyborg male. Reader titillation is advised.

REVIEW:
This is an Erotic Sci-fi Romance! I say this because its not for the faint of heart! I have read some of Mrs. Langais's previous works and know what to expect. When I heard that she was writing a new series about Cyborgs I was immediately interested and excited!!

It was a great story, I liked it a lot. The characters are great, they are well written and defined but I wasn't blown away by they connection the characters had. I mean it was there but this story (to me) felt like there was more importance place on the love scenes than the actual relationship development. I mean I don't mind if there is one or 30 love scenes but I want the feel the connection of the characters whether they are going through good or bad circumstances.

If you have read Laurann Dohner Cyborg series, you will be pleased to find another fun series with the same theme. Eve does a great job of pulling the reader into her Sci-fi world. The loves scenes are HOT!! *fans self* I hope the next one we will get to see a little more romance. I love to read books that make me feel connected to the characters feelings to the point where I'm sucked into it and find myself crying, laughing or any other emotion the characters have. This series has great potential and will be waiting for the next one!

**Review** The Reluctant Protector By Nana Molone

The Reluctant Protector ( #1 in Protector Series)

Released: Dec. 2011

Blurb:
For five years, Cassie Reeser has been her brother’s personal lab rat. Peter’s experiments have made her a stronger, faster, better human. And she’s not the only one – he’s been experimenting on others as well. For five years, escape has eluded her. Until now. When she finds out he plans to sell her as a human weapon she knows it’s now or never. To make her escape she’ll sacrifice family bonds and leave behind the one person who’s ever helped her. Cassie’s learned to shrink from kindness and to never trust anyone. She knows the day Peter finally captures her will be the day she dies. To elude her brother and save the others, she’ll have to risk her body and her heart. What she doesn't expect is a chance at a normal life.

Seth Adams is used to sifting through lies to find the truth. As a former war correspondent he knows what evils lurk in the world. When he finds Cassie hiding out in his car trunk, her story sounds like a fantastical dream. But, before long, he witnesses firsthand what she’s talking about when they’re attacked by a group of Peter’s soldiers. As a result, he goes through his own transformation into a super human and realizes the extent of what Cassie is running from. Cassie might not think she needs his protection, buthe’ll die before he lets her brother have her back

1st line in the book---> Frigid cold settled into Cassie Reeser's bones.

The first thing that I have to say is that this book is Very HOT!!! I didn't have any expectations but I was very happy to have received this book to review! Its more Romantic Suspense with some PNR elements but I enjoyed it very much. I don't usually read Romantic Suspense because I can't really get into it but I was hooked on The Reluctant Protector!

Cassie has had a rough time. She has been experimented on by her brother and he has turned her into a modern day superhero. She discovers she isn't the only one and escapes with the intent to rescue those like her. Then comes Seth Adams, a very sexy reported who's been trying o write a story on Cassie's brother. When the two collide, sparks fly!!

There was good chemistry between the characters. I really enjoyed how the author set up the start of this great series. I was surprised at how short it was though. Its a novella, so it ended too soon for me. Cassie is a very strong but damaged heroine its a good thing she finds Seth because he is able to give her that happiness and trust that was taken from her by her brother.

Again I say this read is an Adult book!! I guess you are wondering how a human reporter can help a genetically enhanced superwoman fight the bad guys....well Seth gets some powers of his own in a very interesting way ;) Thats all I'm going to say!!! You need to read to find out!!!

Blog Tour Interview/Giveaway: Shrouded in Darkness by H.D. Thomson

Today I am so happy to announce and to be hosting this day for author H.D. Thomson's book blog tour for her novel Shrouded in Darkness! Thank you so much for doing the interview!

Tell us a little about yourself !

I would love to! I’ve had a hodge-podge of jobs, from staff accountant to pizza delivery person to owning an online bookstore and heading a company that does book covers, e-book conversions and web sites. Between all of that I’ve never stopped writing. It’s one of the pleasures that I have never been able to give up. That and reading.

Shrouded in Darkness is the first in your Shrouded Series. Can you tell us a little about it??

It’s about Jake, a man in search of an antidote to an experiment that is killing him. He thinks the formula is hidden in Margot’s house, across the country and miles away from Boston. When he shows up at her door, neither of them know a killer is following close behind and is after that same formula..

How was the writing process? Are you a visual writer or do the characters 'speak' to you?

I would say a character is speaking to me probably during two situations. One is when I’m doing something wrong and I’m not being true to who that character is. The other time is when I’ve put them in a predicament that they absolutely hate, which I guess if put it that way, they’re speaking to me a lot!

What was your favorite scene to write?

Almost every scene with Jake. I loved writing him. He’s just such a tormented soul, but at the same time I wanted to make sure he never gave up faith.

~Interview, Book Review, Giveaway~ Party time with author Kristen Callihan!!

I am soo happy to have on the blog today, someone I literally loved their book so much I had to know more about them!! Can you believe how happy I was when I found out that she was able to do an interview for little old me!! LOL Well I was keeping my fingers crossed, knowing that authors tend to be really busy when their release date draws near, especially a DEBUT!! My prayers were answered LOL, so help me welcome an AMAZINGLY NEW AUTHOR.... KRISTEN CALLIHAN!!!

I am soo happy you could do this interview for all of us!! Can you tell us a little about yourself Kristen!

Hmm…let’s see, I was born and raised in Maryland. I’m half Norwegian, half Irish-American. I’m a book lover, and read about 100 pages per hour, so I devour books like bon-bons. I like to cook, but hate baking –too much pressure! And if you put a bowl of French fries in front of me, I will not be able to keep from eating them. :)

Your debut novel Firelight, will be the first in your Darkest London Series. Can you tell us a little about it??

Sure. Firelight is a Victorian Gothic retelling of Beauty and The Beast with a Jack the Ripper style murder mystery surrounding it –just to keep our intrepid heroes on their toes. That’s the framework for the plot. At it’s heart, however, it’s a love story, one about learning to trust, not what you’re eyes see, but your heart, and your instincts.

How did you come up with the idea to combine 19th Century London with the Paranormal??

Well I knew I was going to write a paranormal. It was unavoidable when I realized that Miranda was a pyrokinetic. 19th century London was such an atmospheric place. This was the time of Jack the Ripper, Sherlock Holmes, thick, rolling fogs, and black carriages rattling over cobblestone lanes. If you’re going to have a dark lord, shrouded in mystery and myth, it couldn’t work in present day. To me, it was the perfect setting.

Eden Newman must mate before her 18th birthday in six months or she'll be left outside to die in a burning world. But who will pick up her mate-option when she's cursed with white skin and a tragically low mate-rate of 15%? In a post-apocalyptic, totalitarian, underground world where class and beauty are defined by resistance to an overheated environment, Eden's coloring brands her as a member of the lowest class, a weak and ugly Pearl. If only she can mate with a dark-skinned Coal from the ruling class, she'll be safe. Just maybe one Coal sees the Real Eden and will be her salvation her co-worker Jamal has begun secretly dating her. But when Eden unwittingly compromises her father's secret biological experiment, she finds herself in the eye of a storm and thrown into the last area of rainforest, a strange and dangerous land. Eden must fight to save her father, who may be humanity's last hope, while standing up to a powerful beast-man she believes is her enemy, despite her overwhelming attraction. Eden must change to survive but only if she can redefine her ideas of beauty and of love, along with a little help from her "adopted aunt" Emily Dickinson.

Review:
1st line in the book---> Eden jumped at the sound of approaching steps.

A Fast Paced, Intriguing, Thrill ride that doesn't let you go!!! Set in a dystopian world, Eden is one of the few fair skinned humans that survived the apocalypse. “Pearls” they are called and are the least desirable in a society where dark skins hold beauty and power.

Eden is pale, fair skinned and alone in a world that looks down on her. She is almost to her 18th Birthday and if she doesn't receive a proposition for a mating, she will be cast out of the cave tunnels where society now lives in. Outside the sun burns the earth at high temperatures that would kill Eden within less than a week. She works in her father's lab, that is overseen and owned by a “Coal” (dark-skinned person) named Ronsom Bramford. The most desired person, who any lucky woman would be happy to marry. Who Eden absolutely despises. Eden's father has been working on an important experiment that only them three know all of its knowledge. Its a way for humans to evolve and survive in the harsh environment without fearing the sun's deadly rays. The experiment takes a turn for the worst, transforming Ronsom into a beast. From there they must flee and together venture out into the world in order to survive.

I really enjoyed this book!! I had to keep reading because everything was moving really quickly and you are thrown into the action from the very beginning. Ronsom is a great character! I love tortured heros, and he is no exception. He is such a mystery throughout the book! You keep wanting to know more about him, but are only giving small bits of information as you read. The only problem I had was that the love connection between Ronsom and Eden wasn't fully explained. I mean one minute she can't stand him and then the next she desires him. She really can't decide what she wants. There were times where she would be in life/death situations and she would be thinking about how sexy the Beastly Ronsom was. Which to me doesn't seem logical. I would be more worried with trying to live. At times I felt she was thinking more for herself and her needs, than trying to make the best out of the situation. There are some steamy scenes so I think this is more of a 16+ YA novel, but I had no problems with them.

I am looking forward to see where the author will take this series. The world she has created is very fascinating and we are left with a major cliffhanger. There were many twists and revelations in this book and I can't wait to read more!!!

Review:
1st line in the book---> The boy is a mystery to me.

There is no lie in the title of this book! Darkride keeps you guessing from the moment you read page one. Author Laura Bradley Rede does a great job of keeping you hooked till the very end.

This story is Dark & Intense filled with teenage Angst, Love and value of friendships. There is a major love triangle between Luke the vampire, Ander the werewolf & Cicely the human, but this is no Twilight romance. That's as close as it come when comparing, instead Cicely is mature enough to know what she feels and fights to keep her boys and friends safe from the evil that comes after her.

I really enjoyed the characters!! They each keep surprising you throughout the book. Of course I love both Luke and Ander because they are so different and in their own way win over the reader. I will say that for me the story hooked me in the beginning but it took a while to finally get to the part where the action kicked in. There were times where I would get annoyed with Cicely in the beginning because she would give up real easily, or make assumptions but I had to remember that she's a loner and a teenager...it wasn't until halfway through the book where she becomes the strong heroine and I cheered!! LOL

OMG!!! The side-characters were I think my favorite! They are wonderful and you get to know them and their history. Just when I was getting slightly tired of all the love triangle drama, they brought a breath of fresh air to the plot. I was totally blind sided when there was a shocking revelation near the end of the book!! I really couldn't believe it at first, I don't want to spoil anything so I will just say it left me heartbroken...

Overall I really loved this book! We are left with a climax, hanging on to every last word. I can't wait to see what comes next.

Fave Quote:
Yes, I am addicted to the girl. I am finally immortal again but I feel more vulnerable than ever, as if I carry my heart outside my chest. I would die for her, if dying were still an option. But since I cannot give my life, I must live it, and I will not live it anywhere but with her.

REVIEW:
1st line in the book--> “What fresh humiliation does this day bring?”

In Kresely Cole's latest installment in her Immortals After Dark series, we are finally given the story behind one of the most powerful, mysterious and dangerous beings. Just like when Acheron was released, Lothaire the Enemy of Old has finally been revealed! We never quite knew where he came from, what he was up to or who was the female that would be destined for such an evil being.

I will make this a Non-Spolier review since It just released!! I have to say that although it isn't my #1 favorite, it has reached my top three for the series! For anyone who hasn't read the series, I am happy to say that it can be read as a stand alone. The book focuses more on the couple and their struggles rather than all the other events that are happening in the series. KC does a very good job of explaining what is going on for new readers while not making it feel repetitive for fans!

I LOVED IT!!! We have always known so little about Lothaire. Only knowing that he is feared by all. Males either want to destroy him or run from him, while even the Females who despise vampires, can't resist his strikingly good looks. The one thing everyone knows he covets is power. So who could have blooded him? Allowing him to finally recognize his fated female?? Enter Elizabeth Pierce. The last person Lothaire could have imagined would be his Bride... a human. A weak, fragile human... the fates are surely laughing at him, but there is another being that is trapped within Elizabeth. With a plot to seize the Horde crown...a human Bride must be a mistake.

Like I said, I loved how the story pulled away from the events happening in the series and focused more on the couple. The only thing I could say that at times the story would drag, my excitement would slow down, but it would pick up again! I can say its one emotional thrill ride. Just when you might start to get mad at Lothaire, you end up loving him more. Elizabeth is an awesome heroine, and the perfect match for Lothaire. Just as an FYI... Lothaire hasn't bedded a single female in over a millennium. So when he finally finds the Female who brings his body back to life, he takes FULL advantage. There are some hot, Hot, HAWT love scenes that leave you melting!! LOL I can't wait to see who will KC write about next!!! I have my list... which character(s) do you anxiously want to read about next?!?!?

FAVE Quotes:

Yes you. An ignorant, mortal Kmart checkout girl.” He took the sharpest knife from his place setting, absently turning it between his left thumb and forefinger. “Kmart? I should’ve been so lucky. Those jobs were hard to come by. I worked at my uncle’s outfitter shop.” “Then you’re even worse. You’re an outfitter checkout girl with aspirations for Kmart.”

Oh, that’s right, she’s a goddess. And you’re a vampire. I suppose pookas are real, too. And shapeshifters?” Then her eyes widened. “Is Mothman real?”...“Everything you’ve ever dreamed is real,” Lothaire said. “Every creature thought to be myth. We call our world the Lore. And for the record, Mothman’s a fu*kwit.”

Elizabeth Daciano is my woman.” Thad had swallowed. “And she sure is a nice one, Mr. Lothaire.” “Keep your mouth to yourself today, boy, or your spine will decorate our mantel. . . .”

SNAP: The World Unfolds by Michele Drier ~Review~

Blurb:
SNAP, a multinational celeb TV show and magazine, is the holy grail for Maxie Gwenoch. When she snags the job as managing editor, she's looking for fame, fortune and Jimmy Choos. What she finds is a media empire owned by Baron Kandesky and his family. A family of vampires. They're European, urbane, wealthy and mesmerizing. And when she meets Jean-Louis, vampire and co-worker, she's a goner.

The Kandesky vampire family rose in Hungary centuries ago. They gave up violence and killing to make a killing on the world's commodities markets and with that beginning they built SNAP, an international celebrity multimedia empire. Now cultured...and having found food substitutes for killing...they’ve cornered the world market for celebrity and gossip journalism.

They haven't fully left the past behind. Their Hungarian neighbors and rival vampire clan, the Huszars are starting to ramp up attacks, maybe looking to start a war to take over all the Kandeskys have built.

Maxie believes she's found her ultimate career. She doesn't realize that she's found a family feud like none other, a centuries-old rivalry between vampire families, with her as the linchpin. Bells ring with Jean-Louis, but she doesn’t realize they’re alarm sirens until she learns that Jean-Louis is second in command of the Kandeskys...but by then it's too late.

REVIEW:
1st line in the book--> “It was blood.”

In SNAP: The World Unfolds , Michelle Drier combines the world of High fashion and Hollywood with the paranormal world. Think Vampires Wears Prada ;). It was interesting to see how the author combined these two worlds.

Maxmillia Gwenoch, aka Maxie, is the new managing editor of SNAP. She has been in the magazine business for years and has finally landed her dream job. SNAP is the name of a conglomeration of print magazine (with editions in five languages), blog, and television publications dedicated to celebrities. Maxie knows she has finally reached the top, and loves the perks that come with it. Beautiful people surround her but she always keeps in mind the advice that her Mother gave her... to never get involved with someone prettier the she.

Enter Jean-Louis, the art director. He's frightfully handsome, and interested in Maxie. From the moment the moment they first meet they click. Both professionally and personally. As she considers to follow her feelings and get closer to Jean-Louis, there are strange thing that keep occurring at SNAP since Maxie first arrived. Later learning of a vampire family feud that she not only a part of but a target.

The storyline was great. I really enjoyed Maxie's character and Jean-Louis is a great partner for her. The novel doesn't pick until almost half-way through the book. Fashonista lovers will love the beginning as there is lots of detail of regarding the inter-workings of Maxies's job and the places she visits. I do think the only flaw with Maxie's character is that she didn't question or become doubtful when she realized vampires existed. I guess having a sexy vampire tell you is hard to deny ;)

Overall I did like this book. I'm interested to see what book 2 will bring. I love Jean-Louis, but who doesn't like sexy vampire men?? Well this one has an artistic eye and can be extremely deadly, of course he is 2nd in command of the family. There are werewolves, demons, & feral pigs that all contribute to an up coming war. I will keep my eyes open for SNAP: New Talent in 2012.

Fave Quotes:

Once inside, Jean-Louis slid the dividing window up and turned to me. “Now you're beginning to see why the Baron wanted me with you and why I told you about us. You've probably noticed that all the SNAP drivers and security staff look a lot alike.” “Look alike? They're clones! Don't tell me that the Baron has perfected some kind of medical procedure?”

He came over and wrapped him arms around me, stroking my head as I lay against his shoulder. “This means war, I’m afraid.” He put a finger under my chin, tipped my head back and looked at me with those deep, ageless, beautiful, hypnotizing eyes. “Are you with us?” I could not leave now. “I am.”

~Review~ Redemption by R.K. Ryals

Blurb:

“The Time has come when He will come looking. She is ready. I have faith in her. She is her father’s daughter. She carries my blood. And I will never forgive myself for feeding her to the wolves.” Bezaliel from Redemption

Dayton Blainey is a foul-mouthed, grief stricken teenager forced to live with a religiously eccentric aunt she barely knows following the death of her parents. Often upstaged by her moral older sister, Amber, Dayton is often flung into the shadows. Little does she know that there is more to her than meets the eye.

When Dayton's Wiccan best friend, Monroe, sees a vision outside Dayton's bedroom window, a catalyst of events is set in motion that will change Dayton's life forever. She is faced with one major question: Who is she?

Dayton and her friends discover the truth behind this question is so much bigger than anyone ever imagined.

Redemption is the story of one young woman who must disentangle herself from a web of lies endangering her soul, and who discovers an attraction to a mysterious stranger that may just kill her.

REVIEW:
1st line in the book--> It was dark.

Tragedy. Secrets. Revelations. Angels. Demons. Redemption.
In author R.K. Ryals first book in the Redemption series, we are introduced to Dayton. She has lost both of her parents and is sent along with her sister to live with an aunt she has never known. Her aunt is a deeply religious Abbess and the head of a strange religious order. Her best friends are Conner & Monroe. All is normal until Dayton discovers a deep, dark secret. She is a Naphilim, the product of a union between an angel (her father) and a human (her mother). From there she is thrown into a world that she never could imagine. She doesn't know who to trust and to complicate thing more. Dayton discovers that she is bound to a demon named Marcas in hopes that they will create a child. The blood of this child, half demon and half Naphilim, will bring the demonic forces redemption (or so Damon hopes). Now they must work together along with her friends to survive against not only the evil following them but also her aunt's cult that are set to destroy Dayton.

I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. At first I thought it was going to be a simple plot to the angels & demons storyline but I was pleasantly surprised. Dayton is the typical rebel teenager causing trouble. What I liked about it is how Marcas came into the mix. You can tell the is the beginnings of a love triangle at work which of course has you taking sides. There's Conner the golden boy, who Dayton loves as a friend and Marcas. The dark and mysterious demon who has turned his heart to stone because of having loved & lost a woman (an angel) and now is bound to Dayton. I love a bad boy so I would lean towards Marcas ;) I will say that it took a while for the story to pick up. I think I was half-way through the book when it got exciting! We are left with a thrilling climax, which we then have to wait for book 2 to see what happens to the characters!

Fave Quotes:

“Mr. Reinhardt, Ms. Blainey, if you two would please refrain from conversing in my class, I would appreciate it,” Mr. James announced loudly. I hadn’t even heard the bell. Conor shrugged. “I’m afraid she’s a lot prettier than you, Mr. James. I got a little distracted.”

"I'm going to make one thing clear. I’m not here to get to know you. I could give a damn how you feel, and I’m not here to explain myself to anyone. I’m here because my brother has wild ideas that are going to get a lot of people killed. And because he didn’t give me a choice,” Marcas fumed. I just stared at him. “That was helpful,” I remarked sarcastically. “If you’re done with the whole Demon tirade, can you tell me what I have to do with any of this?”
